To encourage the participation of students at international meetings, the RQR is offering travel bursaries of 500$ for M.Sc. and Ph.D. students as well as postdoctoral fellows. These awards must be used to support travel to national and international meetings occurring between September 1st 2009 and February 28th 2010. A student or postdoctoral fellow may only receive one award per year. To apply, you must fill out the application form. The application will be reviewed by the RQR training committee. The deadline for application is September 1st 2009. No applications will be accepted after this date. For any additional information, contact the RQR network manager, Eliane Auger. Evaluation will be based on the following criteria:  

· Applicant must be giving a poster or platform presentation at the meeting

· The meeting must be compatible with the overall goal of the RQR

· Venue of the meeting

· Quality of science

RQR—CREATE Scholarships

The NSERC-CREATE grant received by the RQR allowed for the distribution of seven additional 10 000$ scholarship for newly recruited students. Congratulations to all RQR-CREATE scholars!

Frédéric Leduc from Guylain Boissoneault’s laboratory at the Université de Sherbrooke was awarded a scholarship from the RQR-FQRNT international internship program.

He will spend 5 months in the laboratory of Dr. Stephen A. Krawetz at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Frédéric works on the integrity of the male gamete and on male infertility. During his internship, he will apply his novel molecular tools to a transgenic mouse model.

The 2009 RQR symposium will be held at the Delta centre-ville in Montréal on November 17 and 18th.
