Researchs Projects

My lab is working on the molecular genetics of development using the mouse as a model organism. The main goal of our work is to better understand the molecular mechanisms involved in the formation of various tissues and organs in health and disease, with a particular focus on the contribution of neural crest cells. Current projects involve:

1-  Development of a molecular therapy for Hirschsprung’s disease (Grant from the Fondation du grand défi Pierre Lavoie 2015-2016; PI : N. Pilon).

2-  Assesing the pathogenicity of a HLX mutation in a mouse model (Grant from the CIHR network on rare genetic diseases 2015-2016; PI : N. Pilon).

3-  Characterization of a new genetic model for the polycystic ovarian syndrome (Grant from the BioMed center 2014-2015; PI : N. Pilon).

4-  Identification and characterization of new genes critical for formation of the enteric nervous system (Grant from NSERC 2014-2019; PI: N. Pilon).

5-  Analysis of the transcriptional and post-traductional regulation of the Gata4 transcription factor (CIHR Grant 2014-2019; PI: R. Viger; Collaborator: N. Pilon).

6-  Characterization of new mouse models for Hirschsprung’s disease (Grant from CIHR 2013-2018; PI: N. Pilon).

7-  Analysis of the gene regulatory network controlling neural crest cell induction (Grant from CIHR 2011-2016; PI: N. Pilon).
